Members responded to a question about ER visits from immunotherapy side effects, sharing a wide range of serious experiences including colitis with severe dehydration, a fried pituitary gland, colon mass removal, Guillain-Barre Syndrome, and organ attacks requiring ICU stays. Several members described managing milder but persistent side effects like rashes, joint pain, fatigue, and dry skin with helpful remedies such as CeraVe, Vaseline-based salves, and Prednisone drops. A recurring theme was deep gratitude for immunotherapy despite the hardships, with many members expressing that being cancer-free made the difficult side effects worth enduring.

Yes! My immune system began attacking my organs. I had to have IVIG to reverse what had been done I spent 9 days in Duke Hospital ICU. Still suffer the effects of a destroyed thyroid and adrenal system. It was a horrible experience. Oddly, I felt wonderful after the treatment and believed my immune system must have needed that extra boost. A week before my next infusion my body stopped functioning. Glad this is not a typical experience. Good luck with yours!’
